Track Bar: Removal

NOTE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. NOTE: To prevent the front suspension from shifting when the track bar is removed, the front axle must be supporting the vehicle weight.

    On both sides. Position a jackstand under both sides of the front axle assembly and lower the vehicle until the front axle is supporting the vehicle weight.

  3. Remove the track bar-to-frame nut and bolt and disconnect the track bar.

  4. NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the track bar ball joint from turning while removing the nut.

    Remove and discard the track bar ball joint nut.

  5. NOTE: It may be necessary to rotate the track bar forward before installing the Steering Arm Remover.

    Disconnect the track bar from the ball joint and remove the track bar. Use Special Service Tool: 211-003 (T64P-3590-F) Remover, Steering Arm.
