Front Spring - F-250/F-350: Removal

Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.

- Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire - Vehicles With: Single Rear Wheels . Refer to: Wheel and Tire - Vehicles With: Dual Rear Wheels .
- Support the front axle assembly. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

- Remove the front shock absorber lower nut and washer.
Torque: 52 lb.ft (70 Nm)
- Detach the front shock from the lower mounting stud.
- Remove the front shock absorber lower nut and washer.
- Remove and discard the upper spring bracket bolt and remove upper spring bracket.
Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
- Lower the front axle assembly until the spring is free of the spring upper seat. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

NOTE: The spring lower nut can be accessed using an extension through the top of the spring.
Remove and discard the spring lower nut.
Torque: 148 lb.ft (200 Nm)
- Inspect the spring lower insulator, install new as necessary.
