Axle - F-450/F-550: Removal

Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.

- Support the front axle. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
- Remove the track bar. Refer to: Track Bar .
- Remove the springs. Refer to: Spring - F-450/F-550 .
- Remove the wheel knuckles. Refer to: Wheel Knuckle - F-450/F-550 .

NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the ball stud from turning while removing or installing the stabilizer link nut.
On both sides. Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link lower nuts.
Torque: 59 lb.ft (80 Nm)

NOTE: Tighten the radius arm front nuts with the suspension at curb height or damage to the bushings may occur.
Remove and discard the radius arm front nuts and bolts. Remove the axle assembly.
Torque: 240 lb.ft (325 Nm)
