Exhaust Downpipe: Installation

Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.
NOTE: Note the position of the exhaust upper downpipe clamp from disassembly.

NOTE: Make sure that new clamp is installed.

NOTE: Do not tighten the upper downpipe clamp at this time.

Disengage the new exhaust upper downpipe clamp T-bolt. While positioning the exhaust upper downpipe, loosely position the clamp over the turbocharger flange and the exhaust upper downpipe flange.

NOTE: Only hand tighten the exhaust upper downpipe bracket bolt at this time.

Install and hand tighten the exhaust upper downpipe bracket bolt.

Engage the new exhaust upper downpipe clamp T-bolt and position the clamp as noted during disassembly.
Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

Tighten the exhaust upper downpipe bracket bolt.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

Loosely position the exhaust lower downpipe into the exhaust upper downpipe.

NOTE: Make sure that new nuts are installed.

Install the exhaust lower downpipe bracket nuts finger tight.

NOTE: Make sure that new bolts are installed.

Install the new exhaust lower downpipe-to-catalyst and particulate filter assembly bolts and hand tighten.

Tighten the exhaust lower downpipe bracket nuts.
Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

NOTE: Make sure the exhaust upper and lower downpipes are aligned and fully seated together before tightening the clamp.

Tighten the exhaust upper downpipe clamp.

Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

Tighten the exhaust lower downpipe-to-catalyst and particulate filter assembly bolts.
Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)

Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel, 6-Speed Automatic Transmission - 6R140 .
Install the RH turbocharger inlet pipe. Refer to: Turbocharger Inlet Pipe RH .
Check the exhaust system for leaks.
