Dual Catalytic Converter Y-Pipe: Removal

NOTE: If the exhaust Y-Pipe is not being replaced, the LH and RHHO2S and catalyst monitor sensors do not need to be removed from the exhaust Y-Pipe. Disconnecting the electrical connectors is still necessary.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Disconnect the LH side HO2S and catalyst monitor sensor electrical connectors.

  3. Detach the wire retainer and disconnect the RH side HO2S and catalyst monitor sensor electrical connectors.

  4. Remove the exhaust Y-pipe-to-front muffler bolts.

  5. Loosen the 2 nuts on the clamp and slide it rearward.

  6. Remove and discard the RH exhaust Y-pipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts.

  7. Remove and discard the LH exhaust Y-pipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts and remove the Y-pipe.
