Low Reverse Clutch Assembly

Low/Reverse Clutch 

Condition Possible Sources Action
Low/Reverse clutch does not apply SSD solenoid filter blocked INSTALL a new solenoid. REFER to: Shift Solenoids (SS) . CARRY OUT the Transmission Strategy Download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
SSD is mechanically stuck OFF INSTALL a new solenoid. REFER to: Shift Solenoids (SS) . CARRY OUT the Transmission Strategy Download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
Fluid supply feed tubes or seals damaged or leaking REMOVE the main control valve body and INSPECT the fluid supply feed tubes and seals for damage or leaks. INSTALL new seals. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
Low/Reverse clutch (1, R) regulator valve stuck OFF DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the low/reverse clutch regulator valve. If the bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
Low/Reverse clutch (1, R) latch valve stuck OFF DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the low/reverse clutch latch valve. If the bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
Direct (3, 5, R) clutch latch valve stuck DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the direct clutch latch valve. If the bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
SP, PC4Z LP, R, PC4R, CBLRS, CBLRD hydraulic circuits blocked/leaking DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control valve body and separator plate passages for debris/blockage. CLEAN as necessary. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
Rear planetary carrier/center ring gear DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the planetary carrier/center ring gear for wear and damage that would prevent the gear from being held. INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
Low/Reverse clutch friction plates DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the low/reverse clutch friction and steel plates for wear and damage. INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
Low/Reverse clutch piston seal leakage DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the low/reverse clutch piston and seals for wear and damage. INSTALL new seals. REFER to: Transmission .
Low/Reverse clutch always applied SSD solenoid filter seal damaged INSTALL a new solenoid. REFER to: Shift Solenoids (SS) . CARRY OUT the Transmission Strategy Download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .

Low/Reverse clutch (1, R) regulator valve stuck ON DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the low/reverse clutch regulator valve and spring. If the bore, valve or spring is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
Low/Reverse clutch (1, R) latch valve stuck ON DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the low/reverse clutch latch valve and spring. If the bore, valve or spring is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
Main control valve body cross leaking into PC4R, CBLRS, CBLRD hydraulic circuits DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control valve body and separator plate passages for cracks, warping, and damage. If damage is found, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
Low One-Way Clutch (OWC) INSPECT the Low One-Way Clutch (OWC) for free rotation in over-run direction. INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
Low/Reverse clutch friction plates DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the low/reverse clutch friction and steel plates. INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
Low/Reverse clutch piston return spring DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the return spring for damage. INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
Low/Reverse clutch delayed/soft/slipping apply Incorrect Transmission Strategy programmed into PCM CARRY OUT the Transmission Strategy Download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
Low line pressure CARRY OUT the line pressure test. REFER to: Special Testing Procedures .

Low/Reverse (1, R) clutch latch valve sticking DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the low/reverse clutch latch valve and spring. If the bore, valve or spring is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
Main control valve body cross leaking into PC4R, CBLRS, CBLRD hydraulic circuits DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control valve body and separator plate passages for cracks, warping, and damage. If damage is found, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
