Forward Clutch

For forward clutch operation, REFER to: Forward Clutch Assembly .

Forward clutch does not apply	SSA is mechanically stuck OFF	INSTALL a new solenoid. REFER to: Shift Solenoids (SS) . CARRY OUT the Transmission Strategy Download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
	Pump feed seals damaged/leaking	REMOVE the main control valve body and INSPECT the pump feed seals for damage or leaks. INSTALL new seals. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
	Forward (1, 2, 3, 4) clutch regulator valve stuck OFF	DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the forward clutch regulator valve. If the bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
	Forward (1, 2, 3, 4) clutch latch valve stuck OFF	DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the forward clutch latch valve. If the bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
	D432, FCPF, SF, PC1, PC1Z, C1234, C1234FB hydraulic circuits blocked/leaking. PC1 Solenoid damper missing/damaged	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control valve body and separator plate passages for debris/blockage/leaks. CLEAN as necessary. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
	C1234 hydraulic passage in pump blocked/leaking or pump Teflon seals leaking.	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the pump passages for blockage and damage. CLEAN and/or INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
	Forward clutch friction plates	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the friction and steel plates for wear and damage. CLEAN and/or INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
	Forward clutch piston seals	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the piston seals for wear and damage. INSTALL new seals. REFER to: Transmission .
Forward clutch always applied	SSA is mechanically stuck ON	INSTALL a new solenoid. REFER to: Shift Solenoids (SS) . CARRY OUT the Transmission Strategy Download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
	Forward (1, 2, 3, 4) clutch regulator valve stuck ON	DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the regulator valve. If the bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
	Forward (1, 2, 3, 4) clutch latch valve stuck ON	DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the latch valve. If the bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
	Main control valve body cross leaking into PC1, PC1Z and/or C1234 hydraulic circuits,	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control valve body and separator plate passages for cracks, warping, and damage. If damage is found, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
	Forward clutch friction plates	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the friction and steel plates for wear and damage. INSTALL new components necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
	Forward clutch return spring	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the forward clutch return spring for wear and damage. INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
Forward clutch delayed/soft/slipping apply	Incorrect transmission strategy programmed into PCM.	CARRY OUT the Transmission Strategy Download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
	Low line pressure	CARRY OUT the line pressure test. REFER to: Special Testing Procedures .
	SSA is mechanically sticking	INSTALL a new solenoid. REFER to: Shift Solenoids (SS) . CARRY OUT the Transmission Strategy Download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .

	Main control valve body cross leaking in to PC1, PC1Z, and C1234 hydraulic circuits,	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control valve body and separator plate passages for cracks, warping, and damage. If damage is found, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
