Low Reverse Clutch Assembly

Low/Reverse Clutch 

Condition Possible Sources Action
Low/Reverse clutch does not apply SSD solenoid filter blocked CLEAN or INSTALL a new solenoid. REFER to: Shift Solenoids (SS) .
SSD is mechanically stuck OFF INSTALL a new solenoid. REFER to: Shift Solenoids (SS) .
Clutch D1 regulator valve stuck OFF DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the clutch D1 regulator valve. If the bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body . REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
VFS4, CL DC, CL D1 hydraulic circuits blocked/leaking DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control valve body and separator plate passages for debris/blockage/damage. CLEAN as necessary. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body . REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
Shift solenoid control check ball missing/damaged REMOVE and DISASSEMBLE the main control valve body. INSPECT all check balls for missing/damage. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body . REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
Multiplex shift valve stuck in default position DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the multiplex shift valve. If the bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control valve body. REFER to: Main Control Valve Body . REFER to: Main Control Valve Body .
Center support, rear planetary carrier DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the components for wear and damage. INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
Low/Reverse clutch friction plates DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the low/reverse clutch friction and steel plates. INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
Low/Reverse clutch piston seals DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the low/reverse clutch piston seals for damage and wear. INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
Low/Reverse clutch always applied SSD solenoid filter seal damaged INSTALL a new solenoid. REFER to: Shift Solenoids (SS) .
SSD mechanically stuck ON INSTALL a new solenoid. REFER to: Shift Solenoids (SS) .

Low/Reverse clutch piston return spring DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the low/reverse clutch piston return spring for damage. INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission .
Low/Reverse clutch delayed/soft/slipping apply Incorrect Transmission Strategy programmed into PCM CARRY OUT the Transmission Strategy Download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
SSD filter blocked CLEAN or INSTALL a new solenoid. REFER to: Shift Solenoids (SS) .
