Differential Carrier: Removal

- Remove the differential housing cover. Refer to: Differential Housing Cover .
- Remove the axle shafts. Refer to: Axle Shaft .
- If equipped. Remove the ELD adapter bolt and pull the ELD adapter out of the differential housing.
- If equipped. Disconnect and remove the ELD adapter.
- Remove the bolts and the differential bearing adjuster locks.

NOTE: The differential bearing caps and differential bearing cap bolts need to be installed in the same location as removed.
- Mark the differential carrier bearing caps.
- Remove the bolts and the differential carrier bearing caps.
- Loosen the differential bearing preload adjusters until there is just enough that a slight drag can be felt when pulling the differential carrier out. Use Special Service Tool: 205-1027 Adjuster, Differential Bearing.
- Remove the differential carrier and differential carrier bearing cups.
- If needed. Remove the differential preload adjusters.
