Rear Lamp Assembly: Removal

NOTE: LH rear lamp assembly is shown, RH rear lamp assembly is similar.

Rear lamp assembly with side obstacle detection - pick-up box mounted 

  1. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new side obstacle detection (SOD) module.
    NOTE: If installing a new side obstacle detection (SOD) control module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the scan tool prior to removing the module. This information must be downloaded into the new SOD control module after installation

    Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the side obstacle detection (SOD) control module following the on-screen instructions.

    Rear lamp assembly without side obstacle detection - pick-up box mounted 

  2. Remove the screws and position the rear lamp assembly aside.

    Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the rear lamp assembly.

    Rear lamp assembly with side obstacle detection - pick-up box mounted 

  4. Remove the screws and position the rear lamp assembly aside.

    Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the rear lamp assembly.

  6. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new side obstacle detection (SOD) module.

    Remove the screws and the side obstacle detection (SOD) control module assembly.

  7. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new side obstacle detection (SOD) module.

    Remove the screws, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the side obstacle detection (SOD) control module.

    Rear lamp assembly without side obstacle detection - frame mounted 

  8. Disconnect the rear lamp assembly electrical connector.

  9. Remove the nuts and the rear lamp assembly.

    Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

    Center mounted rear lamp assembly 

  10. Remove the screws and position the center rear lamp assembly out.

    Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

  11. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the center rear lamp assembly.
