Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU): Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. NOTE: The PMI process must begin with the current ABS module installed. If the current ABS module does not respond to the diagnostic scan tool, the tool may prompt for As-Built Data as part of the repair.

    Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the ABS module following the on-screen instructions.

  2. If equipped with a secondary battery. Remove the secondary battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
  3. Disconnect the ABS module electrical connector.

  4. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.
    NOTE: If the brake fluid is spilled on any component, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.

    1. Disconnect the secondary master cylinder brake tube fitting.

      Torque: 17 lb.ft (23 Nm)

    2. Disconnect the primary master cylinder brake tube fitting.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

    3. Disconnect the front and rear brake tube fittings.

      Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

  5. Remove the nut and the HCU and ABS module assembly.

    Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
