P2291 - INJECTOR CONTROL PRESSURE TOO LOW - ENGINE CRANKING

Description:  The PCM monitors the fuel rail pressure (FRP) during the engine cranking. This DTC sets when the FRP does not increase to the calibrated threshold while the engine is cranked.
Possible Causes:
  • FVCV circuit open
  • FVCV circuit short to voltage
  • FVCV circuit short to ground
  • FPCV circuit open
  • FPCV circuit short to voltage
  • FPCV circuit short to ground
  • VPWR circuit open
  • FRP circuit open
  • FRP circuit short to voltage
  • FRP circuit short to ground
  • VREF circuit open
  • SIGRTN circuit open
  • Poor fuel quality
  • Damaged fuel pressure control valve
  • Damaged fuel volume control valve
  • Damaged low pressure fuel pump
  • Damaged high pressure fuel injection pump
  • Damaged FRP sensor
Diagnostic Aids:  The FRP sensor, fuel pressure control valve and fuel volume control valve values can be monitored by accessing the FRP_A PID, the F_PCV and the F_VCV PID.
