DTC P2085 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Intermittent (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

P2085 - EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT INTERMITTENT (BANK 1 SENSOR 2)

For Transit 
Description:  This DTC sets when the DTC P2033 is set. The exhaust fluid system fault message may be enabled in the instrument cluster message center for this DTC.
Possible Causes: 
Diagnostic Aids:  This DTC is an informational DTC and may be accompanied by other DTCs. Diagnose all other DTCs first.
The presence of this DTC may indicate that the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power. After repair, the vehicle may still display a system warning message. Drive the vehicle, while carrying out the appropriate drive cycle procedure, until the system warning message has cleared from the instrument cluster message center. Refer to DRIVE CYCLES , for additional information.
For F-Series Super Duty, this DTC is present for 400 days after the exhaust system fluid fault message is cleared.
For All Others 
Description:  This DTC sets when an intermittent concern is detected in the EGT12 circuit.
Possible Causes: 
  • EGT12 circuit intermittent open
  • EGT12 circuit intermittent short to ground
  • EGT12 circuit intermittent short to voltage
  • Incorrect connections
  • Damaged exhaust gas temperature bank 1, sensor 2 (EGT12)
Diagnostic Aids:  Harness routing, harness alterations, or incorrect shielding may have an intermittent impact on the EGT12 circuit.
Application  Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory 
Transit Refer to the Description, Possible Causes and Diagnostic Aids for the DTC.
All others GO to PINPOINT TEST RC .
