Catalytic Converter: Removal

NOTE: Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. NOTE: Typical application shown in illustration.

    Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.

  3. Remove and discard the exhaust Y-pipe-to-catalytic converter bolts.

  4. NOTE: During assembly, make sure the tab is fully seated in the notch on the pipe.

    Loosen the catalytic converter-to-muffler clamp or, if equipped, the exhaust intermediate pipe clamp.

  5. Disconnect the catalytic converter from the rubber isolator and remove the catalytic converter.
