Catalytic Converter: Installation

  1. Position the catalytic converter and connect the rubber isolator.

  2. NOTE: During assembly, make sure the tab is fully seated in the notch on the pipe.

    Install the catalytic converter-to-muffler pipe or, if equipped, the catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe tab until fully seated in the notch. Do not tighten clamp at this time.

  3. Install the new bolts and evenly tighten the exhaust Y-pipe-to-catalytic converter bolts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  4. NOTE: Before tightening the clamp, make sure the tab is still fully seated in the notch on the pipe.

    Tighten the catalytic converter-to-muffler clamp or, if equipped, the catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe clamp.

    Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

  5. NOTE: Typical application shown in illustration.

    Connect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.

  6. Check the exhaust system for leaks.
