Exhaust Downpipe: Removal

NOTE:
Use only new nuts with the same part number as the original. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of exhaust components.
NOTE:
Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.
- Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to: Upper Intake Manifold .
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel, 6-Speed Automatic Transmission - 6R140 .
- Remove and discard the exhaust lower downpipe-to-catalyst and particulate filter assembly bolts.
- Remove and discard the exhaust lower downpipe bracket nuts and remove the pipe.

NOTE: Note the position of the exhaust lower downpipe clamp for installation.
Loosen clamp.
- Remove the exhaust upper downpipe bracket bolt.

NOTE: Note the position of the exhaust upper downpipe clamp for installation.
Remove and discard the exhaust upper downpipe clamp and remove the exhaust upper downpipe.
