Differential Carrier: Removal

- Remove the differential housing cover. REFER to: Differential Housing Cover .
- Remove the axle shafts. REFER to: Axle Shaft .

NOTE: The differential bearing caps and differential bearing cap bolts need to be installed in the same location as removed.
- Clean the ABS sensors and the area around them.
- Remove the ABS sensor bolts and position the ABS sensors aside.
- Remove the differential bearing adjuster locks and adjuster lock bolts.

NOTE: The differential bearing caps and differential bearing cap bolts need to be installed in the same location as removed.
- Mark the differential carrier bearing caps.
- Remove the differential carrier bearing caps and bolts.
- Loosen the differential bearing preload adjusters until there is just enough that a slight drag can be felt when pulling the differential carrier out. Use Special Service Tool: 205-1027 Adjuster, Differential Bearing.
- Remove the differential carrier and differential carrier bearing cups.
- If needed, remove the differential preload adjusters.
