Front Muffler: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE: Support the exhaust system before removing.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.
  3. Remove the Rear muffler. Refer to: Rear Muffler .
  4. Support the system with a ratchet strap
  5. NOTE: During assembly, make sure the tab is fully seated in the notch on the pipe.

    Loosen the front muffler-to-rear muffler clamp or, if equipped, the front muffler-to-exhaust intermediate pipe clamp.

    Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

  6. Remove the exhaust intermediate pipe.

  7. Remove the exhaust Y-pipe-to-front muffler bolts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  8. NOTE: Do not tighten until components are aligned.

    Loosen the 2 nuts on the clamp and slide it rearward.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  9. Remove the front muffler isolator bolts and remove the front muffler.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
