Removal And Installation: Radiator: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Remove the cooling fan and the cooling fan shroud. Refer to: Cooling Fan Shroud .
  3. Remove the headlamp assemblies. Refer to: Headlamp Assembly .
    1. All Vehicles. Disconnect the horn electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainer.
    2. Vehicles Equipped With Hood Ajar Switch. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    3. Vehicles Not Equipped With Hood Ajar Switch. Detach the wiring harness retainer.
    4. Vehicles With Park Aid Camera. Detach the wiring harness retainers.

  4. Detach the pin-type retainer, release the clips and position the washer fluid hose aside.

  5. Remove the bolts, push-pins and the radiator grille bracket.

    Torque:

    1: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

    2: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  6. Remove the push-pins and the RH air deflector.

  8. Remove the bolts and position the transmission cooler aside.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  9. Remove the bolts and position the A/C condenser aside.

    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  10. Remove the quick-connect coupling secondary latches from the radiator.

  11. Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the radiator. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).

  12. Detach the hose retainer from the radiator.

  13. Remove the push-pins and the lower air deflector.

    1. Release the clamp and disconnect coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
    2. Pull the upper radiator hose spring clip until the end of the clip is in the detent on the quick connect coupling and disconnect the upper radiator hose.

  14. Pull the lower radiator hose spring clip until the end of the clip is in the detent on the quick connect coupling and disconnect the lower radiator hose.

  15. Remove the bolts, radiator brackets and the radiator.

    Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
