Oil Pan: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the oil level indicator.

  3. NOTE: This steps does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.

    Remove the following items:

    1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
    2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .

  4. Detach the wiring harness clips and remove the nut.

  5. NOTE: To prevent damage to the transmission, do not loosen the transmission-to-engine bolts more than 3 turns.
    NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.

    Loosen the upper flange stud bolts. Loosen: 3 turn(s)

  6. Remove the A/C compressor belt. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt .
  7. NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.

    Loosen the rear flange bolt. Loosen: 3 turn(s)

  8. Disconnect the A/C compressor upper electrical connector.

    1. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
    2. Remove the nut.
    3. Remove the stud.
    4. NOTE: Note the different lengths of the bolts.

      Remove the bolt.

    5. NOTE: Note the different lengths of the bolts.

      Remove the bolt.

    6. NOTE: Make sure that no strain is placed on the refrigerant lines.
      NOTE: Make sure that the component is secured with suitable cable ties.

      Using a cable tie, position aside the A/C compressor.

      Use the General Equipment: Cable Ties

  9. NOTE: The oil drain plug with O-ring seal is to be reused unless damaged.

    Drain and install the drain plug.

    Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

    Torque: 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)

  10. Remove and discard the engine oil filter.

  11. NOTE: Note the different lengths of the bolts.

    Remove the oil pan-to-transmission bolt.

  12. NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.

    Remove the bolts and the support bracket.

    Loosen the transmission to engine bolt. Loosen: 3 turn(s)

    Separate the engine and transmission.

    Distance

    : 0.197 in (5 mm)

    Remove the engine front cover-to-oil pan bolts.
