Exhaust Manifold and Catalytic Converter Assembly: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Remove the cowl panel. Refer to: Cowl Panel .
Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.

Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.

Remove the bolts and the catalytic converter heat shield.
Torque

: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

NOTE: Make sure that new nuts are installed.

Remove and discard the catalytic converter nuts.

Torque

:Stage 1: Tighten: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

Stage 2: Retighten: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

Remove the front subframe. Refer to: Front Subframe - Remove for Access .
NOTE: Make sure that new nuts are installed.

Remove and discard the nuts.

Remove and discard the gasket.

Remove the nut and the catalytic converter.
Torque

: 35 lb.ft (47 Nm)

Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket.

Remove and discard the exhaust manifold studs.

Torque

: 150 lb.in (17 Nm)
