Pinpoint Test BV: P0381:01

  1. DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 
    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    IPC P0381:01 Glow Plug/Heater Indicator Control Circuit/Open: General Electrical Failure Sets when the IPC detects a short or open in the wait to start LED indicator.

    Possible Sources 

    • IPC

  2. BV1 RETRIEVE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    NOTE: Make sure to test the operation of the glow plug indicator when the engine is cold to ensure the engine isn't too warm to operate the glow plug system and command the glow plug indicator on.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    • Wait 10 seconds.

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the IPC Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) while operating the glow plug system at initial key on.

    Is P0381:01 recorded? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) 
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time.
