Pinpoint Test AZ: The Turn/Hazard Signal On Chime Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Turn Signal On Chime. REFER to: Warning Chimes - System Operation and Component Description .

    Possible Sources 

    • Turn signal indication concern
    • Communication concern
    • BCM
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. AZ1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Unbuckle the driver seatbelt.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  AZ2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test AR 
  3. AZ2 CHECK THE TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR OPERATION

    • Place the turn signal in the LH or RH turn position and monitor the turn indicator operation.

    Do the turn indicators operate correctly? 

    Yes  GO to  AZ3
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test X 
  4. AZ3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
    No  GO to  AZ4
  5. AZ4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network .
    No  INSTALL a new IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
