Message Center Warning Messages

Adaptive Cruise Control (If Equipped) 

The IPC provides message center displays indicating the need for driver intervention and system status. The adaptive cruise control messages are supplemental to the adaptive cruise control indicator.

The IPC receives the forward collision alert radar blocked message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the forward collision alert radar blocked message from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.

Airbag Malfunction 

The IPC provides a display to indicate an internal airbag indication failure. If the IPC detects a failure in the airbag warning indicator after receiving the airbag indicator request, the message center displays the airbag malfunction warning message and sounds a warning chime. The IPC receives the airbag indicator request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the airbag indicator request from the RCM over the HS-CAN2.

BLIS/ CTA 

The IPC provides messages indicating a BLIS or CTA system fault. The IPC receives the side obstacle sensor status-left and right, side obstacle detect status-left and right, cross traffic alert sensor status-left and right, and cross traffic alert status-left and right from the GWM. The GWM receives the side obstacle sensor status-left and right, side obstacle detect status-left and right, cross traffic alert sensor status-left and right, and cross traffic alert status-left and right from the SODL or SODR respectively.

Brake System 

The IPC provides brake system displays for low brake fluid level, parking brake applied and ABS concerns that display along with the brake warning indicator operation.

When the parking brake is applied, the BCM sends the parking brake warning indicator request message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends the parking brake warning indicator request message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the brake warning indicator. Once the parking brake warning indicator request message has been received and the brake warning indicator illuminated with the vehicle in motion, the parking brake warning message is displayed. If the condition is not corrected, the IPC sounds the parking brake warning chime along with the brake warning indicator and the parking brake message center message display.

When a low brake fluid level condition exists, the BCM sends the brake fluid level warning message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends the brake fluid level warning message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the brake warning indicator and turn on the brake fluid level low message in the message center.

When an ABS concern exists, the ABS module sends the brake (red) warning indicator request message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends the brake (red) warning indicator request message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the ABS warning indictor, brake warning indicator and to turn on the traction control off message in the message center.

Charging System 

The IPC provides message center displays indicating the status of the charging system. The IPC receives the power system status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the power system status message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1 to display the over-voltage and low battery voltage message center warnings.

Check Fuel Fill Inlet 

The IPC provides message center displays indicating there is a problem with the fuel fill inlet pipe resulting in significant evaporative emission leak following vehicle refueling. The IPC receives the fuel fill inlet message request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the fuel fill inlet message request from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid 

The IPC provides messages related to the diesel exhaust fluid level, range, system faults and potential engine performance concerns. The IPC receives the diesel exhaust fluid warnings messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the diesel exhaust fluid warning messages from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.

Diesel Particulate Filter (Regeneration) 

The message center displays messages for the diesel particulate filter status and the regeneration status. The IPC receives the diesel particulate filter display message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the diesel particulate filter display message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.

Door Ajar Indication 

The IPC provides a message center display to indicate the vehicle is on with a door ajar, rear load compartment door ajar or hood ajar. The BCM monitors each of the ajar inputs and sends a door, rear cargo or hood ajar status message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends a door, rear cargo or hood ajar status message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to display door ajar warning message.

Engine Oil Service 

The IPC provides a message center display to indicate an engine oil change is due. The IPC receives the engine oil life message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the engine oil life message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1 to display the engine oil change due message.

To reset the engine oil change minder, switch the engine off, fully press the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time until a message appears in the message center display confirming the reset is complete (approximately 30 seconds).

Engine Over-Temperature 

The IPC provides a message center display to indicate the engine is over-temperature. The PCM sends the engine over-temperature message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends the engine over-temperature message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to move the temperature gauge to full hot and display the engine over-temperature message center warning.

Engine Service 

The IPC provides powertrain malfunction displays to indicate a transmission malfunction, engine malfunction or fuel cutoff system malfunction. The IPC receives the engine service indication message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the engine service indication message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1 to turn on the appropriate powertrain malfunction message.

Exterior Lamp Bulb 

The IPC provides exterior bulb fault messages to indicate a concern with the headlamp system, the low beam bulb, brake lamp bulb or trailer lamp bulb. The IPC receives a bulb fault message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives a bulb fault message from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.

Factory-Transport Mode 

During vehicle build, some modules, such as the IPC and BCM, are set in factory mode. When in the factory mode, the IPC displays FACTORY MODE CONTACT DEALER in the message center. If the vehicle is set in factory mode, the system does not automatically exit the mode and must be manually set to either the transport or normal operation mode.

When the vehicle build is complete, the vehicle is set to transport mode. While in transport mode, the IPC displays TRANSPORT MODE CONTACT DEALER in the message center. Transport mode is used to reduce the drain on the battery during longer periods where the vehicle is not used. Various systems may be altered or are disabled when in the transport mode. The vehicle automatically reverts to normal operation mode after being driven 201 km (125 miles).

The IPC receives the factory mode and transport mode messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the factory mode and transport mode messages from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.

Forward Collision Alert 

The IPC provides a message center display to indicate a forward collision alert system malfunction or forward radar is blocked. The IPC receives the forward collision alert radar blocked and forward collision alert message request messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the forward collision alert radar blocked and forward collision alert message request messages from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.

Hill Start Assist System 

The IPC provides a message center display to indicate the status of the hill start assist system. The IPC receives the hill start assist status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the hill start assist status message from the ABS module over the HS-CAN2.

Lane Keeping Alert System 

The IPC provides a message center display to indicate the status of the lane keeping alert system. The IPC receives the lane keeping alert system status display and camera status display messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM receives the lane keeping alert system status display and camera status display messages from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.

Low Engine Oil Pressure 

The engine oil pressure switch (gas engine) or engine oil pressure sensor (diesel engine) is hardwired to the PCM. The IPC receives the engine oil pressure warning indicator request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the engine oil pressure warning indicator request from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.

MyKey® Function 

The IPC provides message center setup and message displays for the MyKey® feature.

Parking Aid System 

The IPC provides a message center display to indicate a parking aid malfunction and service is required. The IPC receives the parking aid fault message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the parking aid fault message from the PAM over the HS-CAN1.

PATS 

The IPC provides displays that indicate a PATS key read failure or PATS failure. The IPC receives the PATS indication message over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the PATS indication message from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.

Starting System 

The message center provides a starting system message to inform the driver of further actions required to start the engine or to explain the reason or inability to start the engine. The IPC receives the starter control message request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the starter control message request from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.

Traction Control System 

The IPC provides a traction control system message in the message center to indicate that the traction control is disabled. When certain conditions exist such as wheel speed sensor failure, control valve failures, communication failures or low battery voltage in the ABS, the ABS module sends the stability/traction control indicator request message to the GWM over the HS-CAN2. The GWM sends the stability/traction control indicator request message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the ABS warning indicator, brake warning indicator, stability/traction control indicator (sliding car icon), stability/traction control disabled indicator (sliding car OFF icon) and turns on the traction control off message in the message center.

TPMS 

The IPC provides a message center message to indicate the TPMS sensor training status or a malfunction in the TPMS. The IPC receives the TPMS indication request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the TPMS indication request message from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.

Transmission 

The IPC provides transmission malfunction warning messages in the message center to indicate transmission malfunction or service is required. The IPC receives the transmission service required message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the transmission service required message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
