Front Halfshaft RH - Attach To The Transmission

For information on Ford Color Coded Illustrations refer to OEM COLOR CODING

  1. NOTE: Install a new component if it is damaged or has excessive wear.

    Clean and inspect the inner halfshaft splines and mating surfaces.

  2. If equipped.

Rotate the steering wheel fully to the LH side.

NOTE: Make sure that the strut is not moved more than necessary to prevent damage to top mount.
NOTE: The inner constant velocity (CV) joint must not be bent more than 18 deg..
NOTE: The outer constant velocity (CV) joint must not be bent more than 45 deg..
NOTE: Do not fully install shaft at this time.

Using seal protector, insert the halfshaft splines through the seal protector. Remove the seal protector before completely installing the halfshaft.

Inspect and install the RH halfshaft through the seal protector.

NOTE: Make sure that new components are installed.

Install the new halfshaft retaining strap and the new halfshaft retaining strap nuts.

Torque: Stage 1: 44 lb.in (5 Nm); Stage 2: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

NOTE: Make sure that the component is correctly installed.

Insert the metal ball joint protection onto the wheel knuckle and removal the lower arm ball joint cover.

NOTE: Make sure a new bolt is installed.
NOTE: Make sure that a new nut is installed.

Insert the lower ball joint into the wheel knuckle and install a new lower ball joint bolt and nut.

Torque: 61 lb.ft (83 Nm)

NOTE: Make sure that the component is correctly installed.

Install the flexible brake hose bolt.

Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

Attach the tie rod and install a new tie rod nut

Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

If equipped.

Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
