Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The ABS module receives BPP switch input from the PCM through the GWM over the HS-CAN. The ABS module compares this information against brake fluid pressure input to determine if the BPP switch input is valid. An incorrectly installed BPP switch can cause a signal plausibility concern. An implausible signal can also be created if a driver is resting one foot on the brake pedal while using the other foot to press the accelerator.

| C0040:64 | Brake Pedal Switch "A": Signal Plausibility Failure | This DTC sets due to any of the following conditions; 1) The BPP switch signal is active for more than 6 minutes when traveling faster than 20 km/h (12 mph), the brake fluid pressure is equal to or below 3 bar (44 psi) and the BPP switch signal has never been inactive during the current ignition cycle. 2) If the BPP switch signal is active for more than 12 minutes when traveling faster than 20 km/h (12 mph), the brake fluid pressure is equal to or below 3 bar (44 psi) and the BPP switch signal has been inactive during the current ignition cycle. 3) If the BPP switch CAN messages are missing. 4) If the brake fluid pressure exceeds 15 bar (218 psi) and the BPP switch signal is inactive for longer than 1 second. |
