Rear Bumper Cover: Assembly

  1. Install the rear bumper reflectors.

    Vehicles with rear parking aid 

  2. NOTE: Take extra care not to scratch the bumper cover.
    NOTE: Cutlines already exist on the inner surface of a new bumper cover.

    • Using a suitable center punch and hammer, mark the center of the parking aid sensor location holes.

    • Using a suitable electric hand drill and a step drill, cut the bumper cover within the indicated area.

    1. NOTE: Make sure to follow the area contours.

      Using a suitable file set.

    2. Using a suitable flat file (no more than 2 mm wide), cut the parking aid sensor housing location grooves in the bumper cover as shown in illustration.

    1. NOTE: Make sure to follow the area contours.

      Using a suitable file set.

    2. Using a suitable flat file (no more than 2 mm wide), cut the parking aid sensor housing location grooves in the bumper cover as shown in illustration.

  3. NOTE: Pressure must not be applied to the outer face of the parking aid sensor.

    Install the rear park aid sensors.

  4. Install the rear bumper wiring harness and connect the park aid sensors.

    All vehicles 

  5. Install the rear bumper cover. Refer to: Rear Bumper Cover .

  6. Check the alignment of the rear parking aid sensors. Refer to: Azimuth System Check . Refer to: Elevation System Check .
  7. If any sensor fails the check, diagnose the sensor fault. Refer to: Parking Aid .
