Hood Latch Release Cable: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS) .
  2. Release the hood latch release cable from the routing bracket.

  3. Remove the front door scuff plate and position aside the front door weatherstrip.

    • Release the front door scuff plate retaining clips and remove the front door scuff plate.

    • Position aside the front door weatherstrip.

  4. Remove the hood latch release handle.

    1. Rotate the hood latch release handle.
    2. Release the hood latch release handle retaining clip.
    3. Remove the hood latch release handle.

  5. Remove the retainers and the LH kick panel.

  6. Position aside the carpet.

  7. Remove the hood latch release.

    1. Disconnect the hood latch release cable from the retaining bracket.
    2. Remove the hood latch release cable from the hood latch release.
    3. Remove the cable end from the hood latch release.
    4. Remove the bolts and the hood latch release.

  8. Route the hood latch release cable through the to the engine compartment.

    1. Release the routing cable clip.
    2. Route the hood latch release cable through the to the engine compartment.

  9. Route the hood latch release cable and grommet through the cowl panel.

  10. Release the hood latch release cable from the routing clips.

  11. Remove the hood latch release cable.

    1. Release the hood latch release cable from the retaining bracket.
    2. Disconnect the cable end and remove the hood latch release cable.
