Ignition Coil-On-Plug: Installation

  1. Inspect the ignition coil-on-plug assembly for cracks, rips, or tears. Replace any damaged coil-on-plug assemblies.

  2. NOTE: The bolts are to be reused.

    1. Install the ignition coil-on-plugs
    2. Install and tighten the ignition coil-on-plug retaining bolts in the following 2 stages.

      Torque: Stage 1: 62 lb.in (7 Nm) Stage 2: 45deg.

  3. Connect the ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors.

    • Install the fuel injection pump noise insulator.

    • Connect the electrical connector.

  4. Install the high-pressure fuel pump bracket and bolt.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  5. NOTE: The engine appearance cover rubber grommets may remain on the cover. If so, remove the grommets from the cover and install them on the intake manifold before installing the cover.

    Install the engine appearance cover and the nuts.

    Torque: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)

  6. Install the engine appearance cover caps.

    • Install the strut tower cross brace with new nuts.

      Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

    • Attach the wiring harness retainer.
