Valve Cover: Installation

NOTE: Installation of new seals is only required if damaged seals were removed during valve cover removal.
If removed, using the special tools, install the VCT oil control solenoid seals. Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle, 303-1247 VCT Spark Plug Tube Seal Remover and Installer.
- Install a new valve cover gasket.
- Apply a 5.5 mm (0.22 in) bead of silicone sealant in the 6 places shown.
Material: Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone / TA-357 (WSE-M4G323-A6)

NOTE: The valve cover must be secured within 10 minutes of silicone gasket application. If the valve cover is not secured within 10 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned.
Install the valve cover and tighten the fasteners.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Install the exhaust CMP senor and the bolt.
Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

- Attach the wiring harness retainers.
- Connect the CMP sensor electrical connectors.
- Connect the VCT oil control solenoid electrical connectors.
- Connect the crankcase vent tube quick release connector to the valve cover.
- Install the oil level indicator.
- Install the ignition coil-on-plugs. Refer to: Ignition Coil-On-Plug .
- Attach the fuel supply tube retainer to the valve cover stud bolt.
- Install the engine appearance cover and the nuts.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
- If equipped, install the strut tower cross brace and the new nuts.
Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)
- If equipped with strut tower cross brace, position the positive battery cable and attach the wiring harness retainer.
- If equipped with strut tower cross brace, connect the negative and positive battery cables. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
