Cylinder Head: Installation
- Install a new turbocharger gasket.

NOTE: Do not allow silicone sealant in or near the high-pressure oil feed hole. Any restriction in the high-pressure oil feed may result in engine damage.
Apply a 7 mm (0.28 in) drop of silicone sealant at positions shown on the cylinder block.
Material: Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone / TA-357 (WSE-M4G323-A6)
- Install the new cylinder head gasket.

NOTE: Do not allow silicone sealant in or near the high-pressure oil feed hole. Any restriction in the high-pressure oil feed may result in engine damage.NOTE: The cylinder head must be installed within 10 minutes of applying the sealant.
Apply a 7 mm (0.28 in) drop of silicone sealant at positions shown on the cylinder block.

NOTE: When removing or installing the cylinder head, use care to prevent excessive movement of the turbocharger. Excessive movement may cause damage to the turbocharger oil return tube resulting in an engine oil leak.
With the aid of an assistant, align the cylinder head to the locating dowels in the cylinder block and install.

NOTE: The cylinder head bolts are torque-to-yield and must not be reused. New cylinder head bolts must be installed.
Install the new cylinder head bolts and tighten in sequence shown.
Torque: Stage 1: 62 lb.in (7 Nm) | Stage 2: 133 lb.in (15 Nm) | Stage 3: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm) | Stage 4: 90° | Stage 5: 90°

- Install the studs.
Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)
- Install the turbocharger nuts.
Torque: 39 lb.ft (53 Nm)
- Install the studs.

- Install the turbocharger heat shield and the nuts.
Torque: 39 lb.ft (53 Nm)
- Install the turbocharger heat shield bolt.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Install the turbocharger heat shield and the nuts.
- Connect the heater hose to the coolant outlet. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Connect the turbocharger hose from the coolant outlet. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Install the ground wire and the bolt.
Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
- Lubricate the coolant tube O-ring seal with clean engine coolant.

NOTE: The coolant tube must be fully seated prior to tighten the bolt.
Install the coolant tube and the bolt.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Install the coolant tube retainer bolt.
Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

- Connect the CHT sensor electrical connector and slide the insulator down.
- Lubricate the new coolant tube O-ring seal with clean engine coolant.

- Install the coolant tube coolant outlet.
- Install the bolt.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

- Connect the coolant by-pass hose to the degas bottle. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Connect the upper radiator hose to the coolant outlet tube. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

- Install the crankcase vent tube and retainer.
- Connect the crankcase vent tube sensor electrical connector and wire harness retainer.
- Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
- Connect the fuel injector and the FRP sensor electrical connectors.
- Position and connect the coolant tube. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

- Install the fuel rail insulator shield.
- Attach the wiring harness retainers.
- Connect and attach the fuel rail electrical connector.
- Install the following items:
- Install the valve tappets. Refer to: Valve Tappets .
- Install the intake manifold. Refer to: Intake Manifold .
- Drain engine oil and install drain plug. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
Torque: 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)
- Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

NOTE: Lubricate the engine oil filter seal with clean engine oil.
Install a new engine oil filter.
Torque: Stage 1: 71 lb.in (8 Nm) | Stage 2: 180°
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Specifications .
- Connect the battery ground. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
- Pressurize the fuel system. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
