Fuel Tank: Removal

NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation steps.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
- Drain the fuel tank. Refer to: FUEL TANK DRAINING .
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the muffler and tailpipe. Refer to: MUFFLER AND TAILPIPE .
- Remove the drive shaft. Refer to: Driveshaft .
- Release the clamp and disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe from the fuel tank.
- Using an appropriate impact tool and a TP50 "Torx Plus" Socket Driver, remove the fuel tank strap bolts.

NOTE: Once the fuel tank is removed from the vehicle, reinstall the driveshaft center support bearing bolts by hand and support the rear of the driveshaft with a jackstand or mechanics wire.
- Lower the front of the fuel tank and heat shield assembly.
- Remove the fuel tank and heat shield assembly.
