Exhaust Tailpipe Actuator: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the rear underbody shield.
- Remove the rear underbody shield rear bolts.
- Remove the rear under body shield push pin retainers.
- Remove the rear underbody shield front bolts.
- Remove the rear under body shield rivet style push pin retainers.
- On both sides. Disconnect the exhaust tail pipe actuator electrical connectors.
- On both sides. Disconnect the exhaust tail pipe actuator electrical wiring harness clips from the vehicle body.
- Using a transmission jack, support the exhaust muffler assembly. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
- Remove the hanger brackets bolts.

- Remove the hanger brackets bolts.
- Lower the transmission jack to 6 inches (152 mm) downwards.

NOTE: LH side shown in illustration, RH similar.NOTE: Do NOT discard the heat shield, located under the actuator.NOTE: Do NOT discard the cable guide bracket.
Remove and discard the nuts and remove the exhaust tailpipe actuator. Retain the cable guide bracket.
- Remove the spring and the heat shield from the actuator.
