Extension Housing Gasket: Removal

- Remove the drain plug and drain the transmission fluid. Apply thread sealer to the drain plug.
Material: Motorcraft® Thread Sealant with PTFE / TA-24-B (WSK-M2G350-A2)
Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
- Remove the following items:
- Refer to: Gearshift Lever
- Refer to: Transmission Output Shaft Flange
- If equipped, remove the nuts and the bolts and position aside the transmission fluid cooler tubes.

NOTE: When removing the transmission fluid cooler tube seals and/or backer rings, use caution not to scratch or damage the seal and backer rings mating surfaces.
Inspect the transmission case to be sure that the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube seals and backer rings were removed with the transmission fluid cooler tubes and are not stuck in the transmission case. If the transmission fluid cooler tube seals or backer rings are stuck in the transmission case, carefully remove the seals and backer rings.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and the wiring harness retainers and position the wiring harness aside.
- Remove the bolts and slide the extension housing off of the output shaft.
