Transmission Park Manual Release Cable: Removal

  1. Open the floor console lid.

  2. Release the clips and remove the floor console LH side trim panel. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  3. Remove the LH side front screws.

  4. Release the clips and remove the floor console RH side trim panel. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  5. Remove the RH side front screws.

  6. Release the floor console clips. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  7. Disconnect the connectors and remove the floor console trim panel.

    1. NOTE: When installing a new Park Manual Release Cable, the new cable may come with a plastic cover on the park release mechanism end. Discard the plastic cover after installation.

      Release the holding tab and disconnect the cable from the park release mechanism.

    2. Disconnect the park release cable push pin.
    3. Remove the park release cable mounting nuts.
    4. Push the park release cable through the mounting plate.

  8. Remove the driveshaft. Refer to: Driveshaft .
    1. Position a screw type safety stand under the transmission mount. Use the General Equipment: Trolley Jack
    2. Remove the transmission mount bolts.

      Torque: 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

    3. Lower the transmission.

    1. Disconnect the park release cable push pins.
    2. Remove the park release cable bolts, disconnect and remove the park release cable.

      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
