Pinpoint Test P: U1011, U101F

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    The GSM communicates with the TCM over both a public HS-CAN and a private Transmission CAN. If the GSM is able to receive TCMCAN messages but the TCM is indicating a fault on or more of the data signals the GSM uses for function, one or both of these diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) will set.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    GSM U1011:00 Invalid Internal Control Module Monitoring Data Received from ECM/PCM: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets if the GSM detects invalid internal control module monitoring data from the TCM over the public HS-CAN.
    GSM U101F:00 Invalid Internal Control Module Monitoring Data Received from Transmission Range Control Module: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets if the GSM detects invalid internal control module monitoring data from the TCM over the private HS-CAN.

    Possible Sources 

    • Incorrect or corrupted TCM calibration
    • TCM

  2. P1 CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check for TCM diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

    Are any TCM diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present? 

    Yes  RESOLVE any TCM diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) first. REFER to: DTC Chart and Pinpoint Tests .
    No  GO to  P2
  3. P2 CHECK THE BATTERY CHARGE

    • Check the battery charge.

    Is the battery fully charged? 

    Yes  GO to  P3
    No  CHECK the battery condition. REFER to: Battery .
  4. P3 RESET THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE)

    • Wait 10 seconds.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

    Do DTCs U1011 or U101F return? 

    Yes  Using a diagnostic scan tool, REPROGRAM the TCM with the As-Built data following scan tool instructions. CLEAR the DTCs. If the DTCs return, install a new TCM. REFER to: Transmission Control Module (TCM) .
    No  The fault has been corrected.
