Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE: The front and rear transmission fluid cooler tubes are covered in the procedure. Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube(s) as necessary.
  1. Position the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the bolts and position the degas bottle aside.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  3. Remove the cooler line connection secondary latches.

  4. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Remove the transmission cooler line connection clips and disconnect the rear transmission fluid cooler tubes from the front transmission fluid cooler tubes.

  5. Remove the engine front undershield. Refer to: Engine Front Undershield - GT500 .
  6. NOTE: Front transmission fluid cooler tube

    Remove the cooler line connection secondary latches.

    NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Remove the transmission fluid cooler line connection clips, disconnect and remove the front transmission fluid cooler tubes.

  8. NOTE: Rear transmission fluid cooler tube

    Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket retainers.

    Remove the retainers and transmission heat shield.

    NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Remove the bolts and the rear transmission fluid cooler tubes.

  11. Inspect the transmission case to be sure that the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube seals and backing rings were removed with the transmission fluid cooler tubes and are not stuck in the transmission case. If the transmission fluid cooler tube seals or backing rings are stuck in the transmission case, remove the seals and backing rings, if needed.
