Fuel System Pressure Check

Check 

NOTE: This Fuel System Pressure Check is for the low pressure side of the system.
  1. Release the fuel system pressure.
  2. Disconnect the battery. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  3. Safely support the hood, then disconnect the lower hood support.

  4. Remove the cowl panel grille. Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille .
  5. Detach the wiring harness retainer.

  6. Remove the bolts, then move the coolant reservoir out of the way.

  7. Remove the nuts, and the bolts, then remove the strut tower cross brace.

  8. Detach the wiring harness retainers, then move the wring harness and the coolant hose out of the way.

  9. Remove the nuts, then remove the hose support.

  10. Remove the fuel rail insulator.

  11. Disconnect the fuel rail fuel supply jumper tube spring lock coupling. Refer to: Spring Lock Couplings .

  12. Install the Fuel Pressure Test Kit between the fuel jumper tube and the fuel rail. Use Special Service Tool: 310-D009 (D95L-7211-A) Fuel Pressure Test Kit.

  13. NOTE: The two Fuel Pump Control Module electrical connectors were previously disconnected to release the fuel system pressure and must be reconnected to test the fuel system pressure.

    Reconnect the two Fuel Pump Control Module electrical connectors.

  14. Reconnect the battery. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  15. NOTE: Carry out a Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) visual inspection for fuel leaks prior to completing the fuel system pressure test.

    Test the fuel system pressure to make sure it is within the specified range. For additional information, refer to Specifications  in this service information.

  16. After completion of the fuel system pressure test, disconnect the battery ground cable, open the drain valve on the Fuel Pressure Test Kit and release any residual fluid into an appropriate container. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  17. Remove the Fuel Pressure Test Kit by reversing the installation steps.
