Oil Cooler: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - GT500 - Overview .
  2. Remove the following items:

    1. Engine front undershield. Refer to: Engine Front Undershield - GT500 .
    2. LH wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .

  3. Remove the fasteners and the bracket.

    Torque: Bracket-to-cooler bolts: 97 lb.in (11 Nm) Bracket-to-frame bolt: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  4. Remove the retainers and the air duct.

  5. Remove the retainers and position the shield aside.

    1. Slide the covers to expose the retaining clips.
    2. Remove the retaining clips.
    3. Disconnect the oil hoses from the oil cooler. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

  6. Remove the fasteners and the oil cooler.

    Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

  7. Remove the fasteners and the duct.

  8. NOTE: If metal or aluminum material is present in the oil cooler, mechanical concerns exist. Failure to correct these concerns may cause engine failure. To diagnose mechanical concerns, refer to ENGINE

    Inspect the oil cooler.
