Pinpoint Test Ck: The Ignition-Engine On Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    Ignition-Engine On Warning Chime. REFER to: Warning Chimes - System Operation and Component Description .

    Possible Sources 

    • Interior lighting concern
    • PRNDL indication concern
    • BCM
    • PCM
    • SOBDMC (HEV)
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. CK1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Unbuckle the driver seatbelt.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  CK2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test CS 
  3. CK2 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR INDICATION

    • Open the driver door.

    • Observe the door ajar warning indicator or door ajar RTT warning indicator.

    Does the door ajar warning indicator or door ajar RTT warning indicator turn on with the driver door ajar? 

    Yes  GO to  CK3
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test T 
  4. CK3 CHECK THE PRNDL OPERATION

    • Shift the transmission range selector through the ranges while observing the PRNDL indication.

    Does the PRNDL indication match the selected transmission range? 

    Yes  GO to  CK4
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test AK 
  5. CK4 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the IPC DTC Chart. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .
    No  GO to  CK5
  6. CK5 PERFORM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the master DTC Chart.
    No  GO to  CK6
  7. CK6 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCMKOEO self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the Master DTC Chart.
    No  For gas engine, GO to  CK8 For HEV, GO to  CK7
  8. CK7 PERFORM THE SOBDMC (SECONDARY ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC CONTROL MODULE C) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the SOBDMC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Electric Powertrain Control .
    No  GO to  CK8
  9. CK8 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network .
    No  INSTALL a new BCM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) .
