Pinpoint Test CQ: The Power Liftgate Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Power Liftgate Warning Chime. REFER to: Warning Chimes - System Operation and Component Description .

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • Power liftgate concern
    • RGTM
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. CQ1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  CQ2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test CS 
  3. CQ2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE POWER LIFTGATE

    • Open and close the power liftgate.

    Does the power liftgate operate correctly in both the open and close modes? 

    Yes  GO to  CQ3
    No  REFER to: Body Closures .
  4. CQ3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the IPC DTC Chart. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .
    No  GO to  CQ4
  5. CQ4 PERFORM THE RGTM (REAR GATE TRUNK MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the RGTM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the Master DTC Chart.
    No  GO to  CQ5
  6. CQ5 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network .
    No  INSTALL a new RGTM. REFER to: Rear Gate Trunk Module (RGTM) .
