Pinpoint Test Ax: The CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See CTA Warning Chime. REFER to: Warning Chimes - 3.5L Duratec (202kW/275PS)/3.5L EcoBoost (235kW/320PS) - System Operation and Component Description .

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • BLIS/ CTA concern
    • GWM concern
    • IPC

  2. AX1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Unbuckle the driver seatbelt.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  AX2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test AT 

  3. AX2 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .
    No  GO to  AX3

  4. AX3 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes 
    No  DIAGNOSE the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®)/Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) system. REFER to BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM .
