    Possible Sources

    • Aftermarket parts
    • Damage to the front bumper or sensor
    • Front parking aid sensor
    • PAM (vehicles without 360 degree view camera)
    • IPMB (vehicles with 360 degree view camera)

  2. P1 CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) OR IPMB (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE B) (FOR VEHICLES WITH 360 DEGREE VIEW CAMERA) SELF-TEST

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PAM or IPMB (for vehicles with 360 degree view camera) self-test.

    • Check the parking aid Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the self-test.

Are parking aid Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) other than B1B36:98, B1B38:98, B1B40:98 or B1B42:98 recorded?

Yes  For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) REFER to the DTC Chart in this information. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart
    No  GO to  P2
  3. P2 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSOR FOR PROPER VENTILATION

NOTE: The operating temperature range for the parking aid sensors is -40deg. C (-40deg. F) to 85deg. C (176deg. F).

    • Clean the front bumper and sensors with high-pressure water.

    • Make sure the suspect parking aid sensor(s) is flush-mounted in the bezel.

    • Check for damage, debris or any aftermarket air dams that may restrict sensor ventilation.

Is there any damage or aftermarket parts restricting the ventilation to the sensor(s)?

Yes  REPAIR or REMOVE the parts as needed.
    No  GO to  P3
  4. P3 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSORS

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repeat the PAM or IPMB (for vehicles with 360 degree view camera) self-test.

    Is the concern still present?

Yes  For vehicles without 360 degree view camera, GO to  P4 For vehicles with 360 degree view camera, GO to  P5
No  The cause of the concern was an inoperative parking aid sensor. The system is now operating correctly.
  5. P4 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all PAM connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to: Parking Assist Control Module (PAM) .
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  6. P5 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPMB (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE B) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all IPMB connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the IPMB connectors.

If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new IPMB. REFER to: Image Processing Module B (IPMB) in the appropriate service information.
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
