DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition IPMB B1B44:96 Right Rear Outer Sensor: Component Internal Failure A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the RHR outer parking aid sensor has internally failed or has an incorrect attenuation time. IPMB B1B46:96 Right Rear Inner Sensor: Component Internal Failure A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the RHR inner parking aid sensor has internally failed or has an incorrect attenuation time. IPMB B1B48:96 Left Rear Outer Sensor: Component Internal Failure A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the LHR outer parking aid sensor has internally failed or has an incorrect attenuation time. IPMB B1B50:96 Left Rear Inner Sensor: Component Internal Failure A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the LHR inner parking aid sensor has internally failed or has an incorrect attenuation time. PAM B1B44:96 Right Rear Outer Sensor: Component Internal Failure A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the RHR outer parking aid sensor has internally failed or has an incorrect attenuation time. PAM B1B46:96 Right Rear Inner Sensor: Component Internal Failure A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the RHR inner parking aid sensor has internally failed or has an incorrect attenuation time. PAM B1B48:96 Left Rear Outer Sensor: Component Internal Failure A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the LHR outer parking aid sensor has internally failed or has an incorrect attenuation time. PAM B1B50:96 Left Rear Inner Sensor: Component Internal Failure A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the LHR inner parking aid sensor has internally failed or has an incorrect attenuation time. Possible Sources
- Rear parking aid sensor
- PAM (vehicles without 360 degree view camera)
- IPMB (vehicles with 360 degree view camera)
- N1 CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) OR IPMB (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE B) (FOR VEHICLES WITH 360 DEGREE VIEW CAMERA) SELF-TEST
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PAM or IPMB (for vehicles with 360 degree view camera) self-test.
- Check the parking aid Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the self-test.
Are parking aid Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) other than B1B44:96, B1B46:96, B1B48:96 or B1B50:96 recorded?
Yes For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) REFER to the DTC Chart in this information. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart No GO to N2 - N2 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSOR DISTANCE PARAMETER IDENTIFICATIONS (PIDS) WITH NO OBJECTS BEHIND THE VEHICLENOTE: Make sure the area around the vehicle is clear of anything that can activate the parking aid system.
- Clean the rear bumper and sensors with high-pressure water.
- Make sure the parking aid sensors are flush-mounted in their bezel.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, monitor the PAM parking aid sensor distance Parameter Identifications (PIDs) (LRI_DIST, LRO_DIST, RRI_DIST, RRO_DIST). The PID reads 2, 540mm (100in) on a correctly functioning sensor.
Does the PID read 2, 540mm (100in)?
Yes GO to N3 No GO to N4 - N3 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSOR DISTANCE PARAMETER IDENTIFICATIONS (PIDS) WITH A TEST OBJECT BEHIND THE VEHICLENOTE: Make sure the area around the vehicle is clear of anything that can activate the parking aid system.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, monitor the PAM parking aid sensor distance Parameter Identifications (PIDs) (LRI_DIST, LRO_DIST, RRI_DIST, RRO_DIST).
- While monitoring the Parameter Identifications (PIDs), move a test object into and out of the detection zone behind each sensor. For an example of a test object, REFER to: Azimuth System Check .
Does the PID approximately match the distance from the test object to the rear bumper of the vehicle?
Yes vehicles without 360 degree view camera, GO to N5 vehicles with 360 degree view camera, GO to N6 No GO to N4 - N4 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSORS
- Ignition OFF.
- Install a known good sensor for the suspect parking aid sensor. REFER to: Rear Parking Aid Sensor .
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repeat the PAM or IPMB (for vehicles with 360 degree view camera) self-test.
Is the concern still present?
Yes vehicles without 360 degree view camera, GO to N5 vehicles with 360 degree view camera, GO to N6 No INSTALL a new rear parking aid sensor. REFER to: Rear Parking Aid Sensor . - N5 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all PAM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to: Parking Assist Control Module (PAM) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. - N6 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPMB (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE B) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all IPMB connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the IPMB connectors.
If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new IPMB. REFER to: Image Processing Module B (IPMB) in the appropriate service information. No The system is operating correctly at this time.
