Pinpoint Test D: The Parking Aid Disable Switch Led (Light Emitting Diode) Is Inoperative Or Always On

  1. Refer to Parking Aid for schematic and connector information.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    REFER to: Parking Aid - System Operation and Component Description .

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    IPMB B1B54:11 Function LED - Park Aid: Circuit Short To Ground A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the parking aid disable status LED circuit is shorted to ground.
    IPMB B1B54:15 Function LED - Park Aid: Circuit Short To Battery Or Open A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the parking aid disable status LED circuit is open or shorted battery voltage.
    PAM B1B54:11 Function LED - Park Aid: Circuit Short To Ground A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the parking aid disable status LED circuit is shorted to ground.
    PAM B1B54:15 Function LED - Park Aid: Circuit Short To Battery Or Open A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the parking aid disable status LED circuit is open or shorted battery voltage.

    Possible Sources 

    • Wiring, terminals or connectors
    • PAM (vehicles without 360 degree view camera)
    • IPMB (vehicles with 360 degree view camera)
    • FCIMB

  2. D1 RETRIEVE THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) OR IPMB (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE B) (FOR VEHICLES WITH 360 DEGREE VIEW CAMERA) SELF-TEST

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PAM or IPMB (for vehicles with 360 degree view camera) self-test.

    Is DTC B1B54:11 present? 

    Yes  GO to  D4
    No  If the LED is inoperative, GO to  D3 If the LED is always on, GO to  D2
  3. D2 CHECK THE LED (LIGHT EMITTING DIODE) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect PAM C3267A (vehicles without 360 degree view camera).

    • Disconnect IPMB C3676B (vehicles with 360 degree view camera).

    • Ignition ON.

    Does the LED continue to illuminate? 

    Yes  REPAIR the circuit.
    No  For vehicles without 360 degree view camera GO to  D7 For vehicles with 360 degree view camera GO to  D8
  4. D3 CHECK THE LED (LIGHT EMITTING DIODE) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect PAM C3267A (vehicles without 360 degree view camera).

    • Disconnect IPMB C3676B (vehicles with 360 degree view camera).

    • Disconnect FCIMB C2402.

    • Measure:

      For vehicles without 360 degree view camera 

      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      For vehicles with 360 degree view camera

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  D5
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  5. D4 CHECK THE LED (LIGHT EMITTING DIODE) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect PAM C3267A (vehicles without 360 degree view camera).

    • Disconnect IPMB C3676B (vehicles with 360 degree view camera).

    • Disconnect FCIMB C2402.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Ground

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  D5
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  6. D5 CHECK THE LED (LIGHT EMITTING DIODE) WITH THE PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) BYPASSED

    • Connect FCIMB C2402.

    • Connect a fused jumper wire:

      For vehicles without 360 degree view camera 

      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Battery positive

      For vehicles with 360 degree view camera

    Does the LED illuminate? 

    Yes  For vehicles without 360 degree view camera. REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to  D8 For vehicles with 360 degree view camera. REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to  D7
    No  GO to  D6
  7. D6 CHECK THE FCIMB (FRONT CONTROLS INTERFACE MODULE B) GROUND

    • Disconnect FCIMB C2402.

    • Measure
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C2402-10

      Ground

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new FCIMB.
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  8. D7 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPMB (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE B) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all IPMB connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the IPMB connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new IPMB. REFER to: Image Processing Module B (IPMB) in the appropriate service information.
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  9. D8 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all PAM connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to: Parking Assist Control Module (PAM) .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
