Rear Brake Pads - Vehicles With: Electronic Parking Brake (EPB): Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE: RH side shown in illustration, LH side similar.
  1. WARNING: Service actions on vehicles equipped with electronic parking brakes may cause unexpected parking brake application, which could result in injury to hands or fingers. Put the electronic parking brake system into service mode prior to servicing or removing rear brake components. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

    Activate the EPB service mode. Refer to: Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) Service Mode Activation and Deactivation .

  2. Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  3. Disconnect the EPB actuator motor electrical connector.

  4. Detach the wheel speed sensor harness from the brake hose grommet.

  5. NOTE: Do not pry in the caliper sight hole to retract the pistons as this can damage the pistons and boots.
    NOTE: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.

    Remove the bolts and position the brake caliper aside.

    Torque

    : 24 lb.ft (32 Nm)

  6. Remove the brake pads.

  7. Remove the radial springs from the brake pad.

  8. NOTE: Note the position of the components before removal.

    Remove and discard the brake pad clips.

    NOTE: Below steps are required when guide rods do not move freely.

    Remove the guide rods.

  10. Remove the guide rod boots.
