Rear Brake Pads - 5 Ton Vehicle, Vehicles With: Drum-in-Hat: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  2. Disconnect the brake pad wear indicator assembly and position aside.

    1. Remove the bleeder screw cap and detach the wear indicator sensor cable.
    2. Detach the wear indicator sensor cable from mounting bracket.
    3. Detach the wear indicator sensor.

  3. Remove the guide pin bolt cap.

  4. Remove the bolt and rotate the brake caliper approximately 60° around the guide pin to access the brake pads. Discard the bolt.

    Torque

    : 25 lb.ft (34 Nm)

  5. NOTE: Note the position of the components before removal.
    NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

    Remove the brake pads.

  6. NOTE: Note the position of the components before removal.

    Remove the clips. Discard if installing new brake pads.

  7. If installing new brake pads, use a C-clamp and a worn brake pad to compress the disc brake caliper pistons into the brake caliper bore. Install the General Equipment: Brake Caliper Piston Retractor
