Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler: Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe LH. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe LH .
  3. Disconnect the quick release coupling and position aside the EGR cooler coolant hose. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

    1. Remove the EGR cooler inlet tube nuts and studs, position aside the EGR cooler inlet tube and discard the gasket.
    2. Remove the EGR cooler to EGR valve tube nuts and studs, position aside the EGR cooler to EGR valve tube and discard the gasket.
    3. Remove the EGR cooler mounting bolts and remove the EGR cooler.

  5. Remove and discard the EGR cooler O-rings.
