Oil Pan: Removal

NOTE:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. 100-02 Refer to: Jacking and Lifting .
- Using a holding device, hold the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. 414-01 Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
- Remove the engine oil filter and drain the engine oil. Refer to: Engine Oil Draining and Filling .
- Remove the oil level indicator.

- Loosen the bolts.
- Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.

NOTE: If equipped.
- Loosen the bolts.
- Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.
- Remove the steering gear. Refer to: Steering Gear .
- Remove the transmission cooler tube bracket bolt.
- Remove the nut, the bolt and position the transmission cooler tubes aside.

- Remove wiring harness bracket nut and bolt.
- Detach the retainer and position the wiring harness aside.
- Remove the bolts and the oil pan.
- Remove and discard the oil pan press-in-place gasket.
- Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
