Crankshaft Pulley: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. NOTE: The outer pulley must be removed to properly hold the pulley during the crankshaft bolt tightening step.

    Remove the bolts and the outer pulley,

  2. Lubricate the crankshaft pulley sealing surface with clean engine oil prior to installation.

  3. Using the special tools, install the crankshaft pulley. Use Special Service Tool: 303-335 (T88T-6701-A) Installer, Front Cover Oil Seal, 303-1531 Installer, Front Crank Seal and Damper.

  4. NOTE: Use a universal pulley holder (such as an OTC 4754, or equivalent).
    NOTE: The aid of an assistant is required to perform this step.

    Using a universal pulley holder, install and tighten a new crankshaft pulley bolt.

    Torque: Stage 1: 166 lb.ft (225 Nm) | Stage 2: Loosen: 360° | Stage 3: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm) | Stage 4: 270°

  5. Install the outer pulley and bolts,

    Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)

    1. Using the adjustable stand, lower the engine to the installed position. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands
    2. Remove the stand.

  6. Remove and discard the transmission mount nuts.

  7. Install the new transmission mount nuts and tighten.

    Torque: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

    NOTE: Steps 9 thru 11 are for vehicles with sway bar disconnect. Step 12 is for vehicles with a sway bar.
  8. Remove and discard the nuts and position the sway bar disconnect forward.

  9. Position the sway bar disconnect and install the new nuts and bolts.

    Torque: 66 lb.ft (90 Nm)

  10. Connect the sway bar disconnect wiring harness electrical connectors and retainers.

  11. Position the sway bar and install the new nuts and bolts.

    Torque: 66 lb.ft (90 Nm)

  12. NOTE: Only use hand tools when tightening the engine mount through bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.

    Install the new LH engine mount through bolt.

    Torque: 184 lb.ft (250 Nm)

  13. NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the engine mount nuts or damage to the engine mount can occur.

    Install the new RH engine mount nuts.

    Torque: Stage 1: 81 lb.ft (110 Nm) | Stage 2: 120°

  14. NOTE: If equipped.

    1. Install the underbody shield and the bolts.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

    2. Tighten the bolts.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  15. NOTE: Underbody shields vary by model.

    Install the underbody shield and the bolts.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

    1. Install the underbody shield and the bolts.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

    2. Tighten the bolts.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  17. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt .
  18. Use the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Misfire Monitor Profile Correction routine in the diagnostic scan tool.
